This copyright notice governs the use of images on photo.ktown.team, a project of Ktown Team to document, celebrate, and engage our diverse Koreatown community through visual storytelling. We aim to:

Image Ownership and Licensing

Images are owned by Ktown Team or individual community contributors as specified.

Licensing to Ktown Team

Community photographers can license their work to Ktown Team for inclusion in the collection. Licensing terms are agreed upon individually.

Usage by Ktown Team

By licensing their work, photographers grant Ktown Team the right to:

Community and Non-Commercial Use

Attribution Requirement

All uses must include the photographer's name and "Ktown Team Photo Collection"

Higher Resolution Images

Higher resolution versions are available for approved community and educational uses. Request via the form at photo.ktown.team/request.

Commercial and Derivative Use

Prohibited Commercial Uses

Images may not be used to promote products, services, or entities that harm the wellbeing of Koreatown residents or contradict Ktown Team's mission.

Community Collaboration

Contributing Photos

Koreatown residents are invited to contribute their photos documenting community life. Submit images at photo.ktown.team/contribute.

Suggesting Significant Images

Residents can suggest culturally or historically significant images they would like to see included via photo.ktown.team/suggest or our annual Community Curation Campaign.

Community Advisors

A rotating group of community advisors provides guidance on collection development, curation, and usage policies to ensure they remain responsive to Koreatown's needs.

Responsible AI and Privacy

Responsible AI Practices

Ktown Team uses AI to tag, organize, and moderate the collection according to our published Responsible AI Principles. We commit to using AI in a way that empowers human creativity and judgment.

Privacy Protection

Where individuals are the main subject of a photo, we seek informed consent for inclusion whenever possible. Individuals can request removal of their likeness via the takedown process in section 8.3.

Global and Cross-Cultural Engagement

Cultural Sensitivity in Global Use

We encourage global partners to engage with the collection in a way that promotes cross-cultural understanding and respect. The International Advisory Council provides guidance on culturally sensitive global use.

Translations

Key information about the collection is available in Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, and other languages spoken in Koreatown.

International Licensing

For uses outside of the United States, contact partnerships@ktown.team to discuss international licensing terms that respect local cultural and legal contexts.

Enforcement and Takedowns

Active Monitoring

Ktown Team monitors for unauthorized image use online. Users in violation will first receive an educational warning, escalating to legal action if needed.

Dispute Resolution

Disputes over image use will go through a three-step resolution process: good-faith negotiation, mediation, and finally binding arbitration in Los Angeles County.

Takedown Requests

Individuals depicted in images can request removal by emailing takedown@ktown.team. Decisions balance individual privacy with the public interest in documenting Koreatown's history.
